The Lizard walks will begin week starting March 10th 2008

We have a total of 24 walks on the Lizard and the beautiful thing is
that we have so many more in the pipeline.  The Lizard is just so special.

There will be two walks per day at 10 a.m and 2 p.m starting and finishing from the same place.
Walks are lead by our principal guide, Paul Simmons, MA Cornish Studies.

Leisurely and sometimes challenging, the walks are 2-4 miles, morning and afternoon
requiring a good level of fitness as the coastal path and other areas of Cornwall are
steep in parts.
We aim to walk one and half miles per hour but bear in mind that this is not always on the flat.

From beach habitats to birds, mining to migration, literature to geology, churches to celticism.
The walks will be aimed at a general overview of Cornwall but incorporating knowledge for
those with specific interests. It can be as detailed as you wish.

We have three young children and funnily enough they do enjoy a good yomp.
The Cornwall scenery is inspirational and spectacular whilst the walks aim to provide a full on
Wow Factor for people of all ages. We even have an I Spy of flora and fauna for all ages.

Most of our walks are circular and at 2 to 4 miles will be just long enough for some 8 year olds.
We tend to do two circulars in a day but some are a four mile linear in the morning and a
shorter route back in the afternoon so pick and choose carefully.

Thursdays we will be travelling a bit further a field to do two walks in Penwith, Fowey,
Padstow and the Moors amongst other sites.

Ring Paul on 0771 408 4644 for details.

Also in partnership with the award winning Nare Hotel we are walking on the Roseland Peninsula
on select Thursdays from May 22nd.

Dates:- (All are Thursdays)
May 22nd, June 5th, 19th, 26th,  July 10th, 24th,   August 7th, 21st,   September 4th, 11th, 25th
October 9th, 23rd.

2 walks per day. Starting from the Nare Hotel.

We walk at a pace of 1.5 miles an hour but often over fairly steep and undulating terrain.
Walking boots or sturdy walking shoes are prerequisite as we are on stony ground on the coast path,
fields, sometimes with tall grass on farmland if the paths haven't been cut, and tarmac roads.
We love to stop and chat and tell stories of the geology, botany, wrecks, industrial, maritime and
cultural heritage and the many manors of the area amongst other subjects and it is mostly at a
leisurely pace. It must be stressed that for the enjoyment of all participants, a certain level of fitness
is required as each walk is up to 5 miles over undulating and challenging terrain.
Binoculars and cameras are advisable.
Water bottle and a day sac with wet weather gear are also advisable if not obligatory.

Both walks are three hours and approximately 4 miles each.

Walk 1 will be from the hotel along the coast path via Tregagles Hole up to Nare Head where views
open up to the Lizard in the West and Dodman Point to the East. We go inland to Tregamenna Manor
farm and back to the hotel via Carne Beacon a Bronze Age mound with commanding views of Gerrans Bay.

Meet 9.45 am, start walking at 10am, until 1.00 pm with a one hour lunch at the hotel.

Walk 2 heads West along Carne beach to Pendower Beach and then up the valley to Melinsey Mill.
We take extra care when we walk along the road to Veryan
And then loop around via woods and Veryan Church and back to the hotel
via Churchtown and Carne Farms.

Afternoon walk is from 2 pm until 5 pm approx. Meet at 1.45 pm start at 2 p.m
