The scenery, flowers and birds, coupled with your wealth of knowledge, really made for a super few days. It was so nice spending time taking it all in, without the need to rush to the next destination. The dynamics of the friendly group merely added to the enjoyment. The week went all too quickly so, who knows, I may return for more! Do thank Ceri for the lovely sandwiches and the chickens for the eggs!

Walking blog: The philosophy of walking

When two came walking in September

phoca thumb l p1090932

I've gotta say it. we are owed, big time, some good weather for the rest of September. This week it was delivered. No rain to speak of and for me it is visibility that contributes to making a walk a good walk. Autumn flowers like the squill below on the Lizard invites thoughts of ordering logs and gathering kindling. but let's not get tooo hasty. Whilst the autumnal clouds scud by in a hurry so it seems there is still some good walking to be done.

Margaret and Jillian were the lucky recipients of a mild Cornish autumn walking week. We graced the paths of the Lizard, the Roseland, Penwith, the north coast and the Helford River. We went micro with the flowers and macro with the wide stretches of beaches and headlands.

It was a week remembered for 9 seals at Mill Bay Nanjizal, of cloud parades, far horizons and the start of the late afternoon low sun on the sea, the passing blocks of rain out to sea or around the next headland feeling smug that we missed the downpours. It was the south west coast path at its best.
