Today's walkitcornwall quote

The scenery, flowers and birds, coupled with your wealth of knowledge, really made for a super few days. It was so nice spending time taking it all in, without the need to rush to the next destination. The dynamics of the friendly group merely added to the enjoyment. The week went all too quickly so, who knows, I may return for more! Do thank Ceri for the lovely sandwiches and the chickens for the eggs!

The St Michael's Hotel press walkitcornwall tour of Cornwall

St Michael's Hotel press tour with walkitcornwall at Mullion Cove Lizard

Those wonderful people of St Michael’s Hotel, Falmouth have had various members of the Press down for a few days. They invited walkitcornwall to take them around for a tour for two and a half hours. Loving a challenge the planning was more of a headache of what to leave out than what to put in.

As a firm believer that it is the journey and not the destination (ok we HAVE to have a few Ta Da’s! somewhere towards the climax) I wanted to show off the infrequently used wooded and winding back roads of the Helford river as well as the majestic cliffs and bays of the Lizard Coast.

The obvious Kynance Cove and Southernmost Point were not feasible in the time given. Now is your chance to follow us on the OS Explorer map 103. Our circular tour of the Helford River and the Lizard from St Michael’s hotel at Gyllyngvase Beach took in the splendour of Swanpool, Maenporth, Mawnan Smith, Porth Navas, Constantine, Gweek, Cury, Poldhu Cove, and Mullion Cove. Coffee and teas (at least 6 varieties) were served, as is the norm with our day tours, whilst we took in the sea and air at Poldhu Cove.

Visibility was perfect and although darker clouds were gathering the colours were deep and vibrant as we stood overlooking Mullion Cove and Mullion Island southwards towards Men-te-heul and Predannack. The rain held off and only started once we were getting back into the tour van. Telling the Press that this pact with the weather is a permanent arrangement that walkitcornwall has with nature is only dismissed out of courtesy as they suspect, quite rightly that a complete rejection would probably leave them stranded.

In our entourage were Liz Gill from The Travel Magazine and About My Generation, Daralyn Danns, Jewish Chronicle, Alexander Larman from Quintessentially Insider and Nancy Alsop from Country and Town House magazine. Hosting the event for St Michael's was Aysem Monaco, account director of Bacall Associates, St Michael's PR company.
